Moving to a new country with an unfamiliar language and culture is exciting but can sometimes also be challenging. We would like to support you and ease your transition so that you can focus on your studies. This is why we offer a buddy programme and “Welcome Weeks”, which begin around two weeks before the start of the semester.
As an international student, you will be matched with a local “buddy” who will help you to get settled in Aschaffenburg. Your buddy, who will be a full-time student at Aschaffenburg UAS, will help you with all your administrative and social queries about moving to Aschaffenburg. For instance, they can help you with putting your class schedule together, go with you to the municipal registration office or the bank, and answer any questions you have about studying here.
During the Welcome Weeks, you will become acquainted with our university, the City of Aschaffenburg and its surroundings. The Welcome Weeks consist of a series of informative and social meetings, which are designed to give you more information on studying and living in Aschaffenburg. These events are also a great opportunity to get to know your fellow students a bit better and make new friends.
Starting date: 17 September 2026. (Erasmus) / 21 September 2026. Attendance is mandatory.
The Welcome Weeks and social programme for the following semester will go online about one to two months before the start of the semester.
A variety of accommodation options are available on-campus and in the nearby area. Most exchange students are offered rooms in the halls of residence on campus, while degree-seeking students can choose whether to live in the halls or in private accommodations off campus.
Not only the university has a great deal to offer, but also the town of Aschaffenburg. It is located in the Bavarian Lower Main region and is characterised by a mixture of culture, nature and a general atmosphere of liveliness. Markets and festivals, museums and the town theatre enrich cultural life in Aschaffenburg. Cinemas, libraries and exhibitions also contribute their share. Johannisburg Castle, the Pompejanum and the Pheasantry are especially worth seeing. These sites also attract international tourists to Aschaffenburg.
Green spaces, forests and parks invite you to relax and do sports. Schöntal valley, Schönbusch and the Main promenade are within easy reach. Everyone who is inclined to sports is drawn to the nearby Spessart mountains or the Odenwald forest for hiking, winter sports, mountain biking and climbing.
Music fans get their money's worth in clubs and at festivals. Party people and night owls can be found in cafés and bars. If you want a little more variety, you can explore Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Darmstadt and Würzburg. This can be done very easily thanks to the excellent transport connections.
