The MERCURI program combines marketing, interculturalism, and European expertise — a look back at the 2025/26 winter semester at Aschaffenburg UAS as an integral part of the two-year European master's program

For the 22 students in the fifth cohort of the MERCURI Master's program (European Master in Customer Relationship Marketing), the third semester is now coming to an end. They spent this semester at the Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences.

The internationally oriented, English-language program provides students with in-depth knowledge primarily in the field of marketing and customer relationship management over four semesters at four universities in different European countries (Poland, Italy, Germany, and Spain).

Highlights of the semester in Aschaffenburg

The English-language curriculum of the Mercuri program at Aschaffenburg UAS includes courses in Advanced International Marketing, Corporate Communication, Organizational Behavior, Market Research/Data Mining, and International Digital Economy. Spanish or German as a Foreign Language are also part of the defined curriculum at Aschaffenburg UAS as one of the four European master's consortium partners.

In the 2025/26 winter semester, students were also able to experience other exciting and practical learning and teaching formats:

As part of a one-week intensive program Intercultural Skills – A Marketing Simulation, Mercuri students, together with participants from the International Management program and students and teachers from Mercuri and ERASMUS+ partner universities – the University of Bergamo and CEU Cardenal Herrera Valencia – immersed themselves in realistic marketing decisions as part of an IT-based marketing simulation. They deepened their strategic skills in international student teams and then reflected on the obstacles and success factors of this intercultural collaboration. The ECTS-based intensive program was rounded off with attractive excursions such as a visit to the European Central Bank or joint visits to the Christmas markets in Aschaffenburg and Frankfurt.

Another highlight for the Mercuri students was the study excursion to the BMW plant in Munich at the end of November, organized by Prof. Dr. Alexandra Angress, where they gained concrete insights into international production processes and the customer orientation of the global Munich-based corporation.

To make living and studying in a foreign city easier for students, Mercuri students at the Aschaffenburg UAS — like other visiting students — are assigned a buddy as part of the buddy program and a Mercuri tutor.

In a survey of the participants, the overall assessment of the Mercuri semester at Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences was aptly summarized as follows: "TH AB provides a supportive, friendly, and inspiring environment where students can learn, grow, and feel confident about their future.

Final semester in Valencia with a focus on internship and master's thesis

With the end of the semester at Aschaffenburg UAS, the fourth and final semester of study in Valencia (Spain) is now approaching.

In addition to a consulting project and further development of Spanish language skills, the focus of the semester is on an internship and the master's thesis. This gives students the opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge directly in practice and further sharpen their professional profile – both for the European job market and beyond.

A unique European study program

MERCURI is a two-year, English-language master's program (120 ECTS) that is carried out in cooperation with four partner universities in Europe:

  • University of Economics in Kattowice  (Poland)
  • University of Bergamo (Italy)
  • University of Alllied Sceinces Aschaffenburg (Germany)
  • CEU Cardenal Herrera University (Spain)

This unique transnational program is hosted for one semester by each of the four participating Mercuri consortium partner universities.

Students spend one semester at each of the partner institutions and earn a total of four recognized academic degrees at the end of their studies.

These represent both a high level of professional qualification in the field of customer relationship marketing and strong intercultural skills and multilingualism. Practice-oriented teaching formats such as a marketing simulation, a consulting project for companies, or a mandatory internship lasting several months, which can be completed anywhere in the world, are also integral parts of the program.
