TH Aschaffenburg represented at the world's largest trade fair and conference on international higher education

Prof. Dr. Renate Link, Director of the Institute for Intercultural Communication, represented the university as a participant and speaker at the leading international education trade fair and conference

Over 8,000 higher education professionals from over 100 nations from all over the world took part in the world's largest trade fair and conference on internationalization in higher education, the 77th NAFSA Conference & Expo at the end of May 2025, one of them being Prof. Dr. Renate Link from Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences. The motto of this year's NAFSA Conference & Expo was “Purpose, Place, and Partnership”: promoting sustainable partnerships, enabling global education and efficiently shaping international exchange.

Professor Link presented a scientific poster entitled “Bridging Cultural Gaps: Strategies for Student Adaptation and Engagement in International Experiences” in San Diego together with a colleague from Alabama A&M University in the USA.

In addition, she and four colleagues from TH-AB partner universities organized a session on the current topic “Future-Ready and Beyond Local: Empowering Students as Global Village Residents”.

The session was characterised by the combination of perspectives from global citizenship experts from four continents - Europe, Asia, America and Africa. Professor Link's co-speakers came from Aoyama Gakuin University (AGU) in Tokyo, Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) in Lima and Al Akhawayn University (AUI) in Morocco. Global citizenship involves consciously acting as a global citizen and taking responsibility for the global community. Students at the TH Aschaffenburg can develop their own skills in the area of global citizenship in the general science elective (compulsory) module “Perspectives of Global Citizenship” (see p. 64ff. at module manual), which is offered by Marcel Rother and Prof. Dr. Renate Link every summer semester. As part of this year's Diversity Days, all members of the university were invited to get a taste of the subject, as in the previous year.

The International Language Week including Intercultural Communication organised by the Language Centre and the Institute for Intercultural Communication will also be held in December 2025 under the motto of Global Citizenship Education.
