Small and medium-sized enterprises often do not have direct access to scientific content. Nevertheless, academic approaches can be helpful to improve their business processes. Existing knowledge at universities can be applied to different business models to achieve a sustainable increase in competitiveness.
mainproject has set itself the goal of strengthening the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Bavarian Lower Main region through consulting and knowledge transfer in the context of digital transformation, sustainability and agile transition. To this end, the consultants of mainproject are in close dialogue with decision-makers and make academic knowledge usable for business practice.
In addition to digital transformation, the mainproject team also deals with sustainability issues in the context of implementing the European Commission’s Green Agenda.
Previous projects focused on knowledge transfer in methods of process optimization, lean management and service management (2011-2014) and on knowledge transfer of methods for digital transformation, Industry 4.0 and process optimization (2015-2018). From 2018-2021, mainproject focused on supporting SMEs in information, analysis and implementation especially in the challenges of digital transformation and new work.
Initially, the individual needs of participating companies are determined. Then information deficits and barriers to entry are reduced. In addition, regional networks and communities are established for the SMEs. Universities existing knowledge is applied in business management.
