New international exchange students welcomed

In the summer semester around 40 students from partner universities in 19 countries began their first semester abroad at Aschaffenburg UAS.

At the start of the 2023 summer semester, the university welcomed 37 new international exchange students who will stay in Aschaffenburg for one or two semesters. The President of Aschaffenburg UAS, Prof. Dr Eva-Maria Beck-Meuth, and Prof. Dr Holger Paschedag, Vice President for Studies, Teaching and Internationalisation, welcomed the students at a Welcome Potluck.

The new exchange students come from 15 partner universities from 19 countries in Europe and beyond and are enrolled at a foreign university where they will also graduate. 7 of them come from the Erasmus+ Programme Countries.

A further 32 international exchange students are already studying in Aschaffenburg in their second semester, or in exceptional cases, in their third or fourth semester. In total, 69 exchange students are enrolled at Aschaffenburg UAS in the current semester. Full-time foreign students seeking a degree from the UAS AB are not included in this count.

Before the semester started, the International Office offered orientation weeks for all exchange students so that they could get to know the university, the city of Aschaffenburg and its surroundings. There were information events, German language courses, excursions and various events to make it easier for people to get to know each other. Students from Aschaffenburg UAS have volunteered to help with the searching for accommodation, registration formalities and other questions as part of a "Buddy Programme".

The Welcome Potluck took place at the end of the "Orientation Weeks". Everyone contributed a dish typical of their home country. In this way, the students were able to share their own culture and also learn more about the other exchange students, celebrate the start of the semester, take a few souvenir photos in the photo box and make contact with their new fellow students in a relaxed atmosphere.
